Reading Small Groups: Careers

 

 

Students Itineraries

Students move through four stations through out reading small groups.  In each of these groups the students will be working on various skills and standards that go with the story for each week. There are four careers in the classroom: Crime Scene Investigators, Attorneys, Journalists, and Physicians .The four stations are: meeting (writing), conferencing(with Mrs. Gammon), in the office (independent work at their desk), and on the job training(literacy stations)

Station 1: Technology Center

Students will visit the technology center each week. During their time at the technology center, students will work on their typing skills, writing sentence with their spelling words, and interacting with various websites that support what we are learning in the classroom
 

Station 3: Letter Laboratory

Students will visit the letter laboratory each week. During their time at the letter laboratory, students will be working with the weekly phonics skill, their weekly spelling and vocabulary words, and various word attack strategies.

Station 2: Resource Library

Students will visit the resource library each week. During their time at the resource library, students will listen to a story and answer questions about the text. Students will apply the comprehension strategy they are learning that week. When finished they are encouraged to read leveled stories.
