Duane & William Jedlicki
Our team began with beginning bowlers who came eager to learn and assist the team to a winning season. Teammate Westyn Griffin joined us from Walter Hill Elementary since his school doesn't have a bowling team. He was a great addition to our team with a positive attitude. Matches began in September. In November, we went into the last match of the season undefeated. We had won 6 weekly matches of two games per match. WES would end the season 6-1, but having the most pinfall of any team in the league. Entering tournaments, we were seeded to play the number 7 team. We advanced. The next match was tough. We held our heads high as we showed the best possible sportsmanship and attitude that we could muster in the light of a single elimination bracket loss. We ended the tournament play in 3rd place of more than 15 teams.
the following week, the elementary school's Singles Roll-off tournament invited the top 16 bowlers of the league's 130+ participants. Wilson's Josie Yant and Westyn Griffin represented the school well. Ending the year respectively in 5th and 3rd places.
Mrs. Turner and Ms. Paul are extremely proud of the students for the hours of practice and participation.
If your child is interested in bowling for the school next year, tryouts will take place in August. Until then, we encourage you to sign your child up for a league near you. These leagues have certified coaches available to assist your child each week. Much money can be earned through leagues such as these for scholarship monies for college.
